For my wife's 30th birthday bash we wanted to do an unconventional themed party —something fun, eclectic, yet personal. Her love of books and food is what inspired our Wordy Thirty dinner party. Read on for details on this novel-themed party about food, drink, and great conversation. More

Q: I'm about to have my first child (yay!) and I'm off on maternity leave, looking to stock my freezer full of goodies that are good for late night snacking or during the days when we are sleep deprived zombies (so, every day). More
I'll be honest: I love cooking for dinner parties, but I'm a complete dunce when it comes to actually serving the food in any sort of elegant or dignified manner. Lucky for me, these pasta bowls from CB2 do most of the work for me. More
There are only so many ways to approach a dinner party. You can plan out a traditional menu using recipes you're excited to cook, you can plan more of a potluck gathering or barbeque outside in the warmer months. You can order in. This fall I had a soup party (which will be an annual tradition) and I often do make-your-own-pizza parties. Q: I'm hosting an Academy Awards party, and I need some ideas! We'll be watching in a theater. There will be a microwave and ice, but no refrigerator, no oven. The party will be long — we'll watch hours of red carpet and the awards. I'd like to have food to snack on, as well as a proper meal for my 20 guests. I've got dessert covered, but I need an idea for a dinner entree and sides that could be out on the counter for a few hours, but will still be appetizing. Thanks for any inspiration you can send my way!

Q: I have given up drinking alcohol and would love to get suggestions for drinks that are not sweet or very caloric that go well with dinner.
I am looking for something to drink at cocktail parties and big dinners where tons of wine is served so that I do not feel deprived or left out of the fun. Any suggestions would be so appreciated!
