Over the weekend, a friend gave us some fresh eggs from her Araucana hens. These eggs have a slight pale-green tint that's so subtle, it's hard to photograph. We also happened to have some cured ham from The Fatted Calf in the larder. An idea came together!We set up an impromptu food photo shoot in our kitchen with these green eggs and ham. At first, we tried shooting against a white background, but it didn't bring out the true color of the eggs. Also, we've been shooting against brown backgrounds lately and are getting a little bored with that. We wanted some color!
After some experimentation, we tried it against a fuchsia background, which seemed to come out well. What do you think?
