The incredible, edible egg... now in fun shapes! These Japanese-designed egg molds turn hard-boiled eggs into cute shapes, like a fish and a car—perfect for kids!
Maki from Just Bento shows us how these molds work: after you hard-boil the egg and peel it, wet the plastic mold with cold water, place the egg inside, close the fastener until it clicks, then place the mold in a bowl of cold water for at least 10 minutes, and voila! You have a fully formed hard-boiled egg shape!

We actually have the car and fish molds and they do make adorable lunch-box additions. The one thing to keep in mind though is that you need to use medium eggs - the large or extra-large eggs that I typically use day-to-day won't fit.
Somehow this is just a little too weird for me.
You can get those for cheaper on ebay. And yes, use medium-sized eggs!
I have these, my 4 year old loves having special-shaped eggs!
I thought the fish was a grenade at first!
I always thought you cracked the egg into these and then boiled it in the mold. This sounds much safer.
I have the bunny/bear set and my daughter enjoys her special eggs once in a while in the lunchbox. Costco's organic brown eggs are just the right size.
