There's something slightly cheeky about making our take-out favorites at home. We get all the fried, noodle-y, cheese-filled, and sauced-up foods we love, all while saving money and probably eating a little healthier than we would otherwise. Here are some of our favorite take-out classics to make at home.

Floral Drink Dispen...

I love broccoli and garlic sauce from a Chinese take out restaurant, but lately I've found it cloyingly sweet and gooey. I made a lighter-tasting version at home. My boys love it, too!
And my son wanted to make steamed dumplings after watching Kung Fu Panda, so we made some of those, too. Turned out delicious!
another great place to find takeout-style recipes is in the books of the america's test kitchen crew. one of their more recent cookbooks has an entire chapter devoted to takeout food! plus, since they've tested each recipe over and over and over...and over again, they always turn out great.

Thank you!
I just made Chinese Chicken Salad at home and it turned out just like my fave take out version. Lettuce, red cabbage, bean sprouts, water chestnuts, mandarin oranges, ginger and soy marinated chicken and toasted almond slivers. The dressing was rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce and a little brown sugar. Easy and delicious!
