Found: Artisan Bacon & Maple Moon Pie

Over the last year, we've expressed our small infatuation with bacon and the flavors it brings to the table in desserts. First there was candied salted bacon, then there was bacon caramels, candied bacon fudge and bacon fat popcorn — but nothing prepared us for the mouth watering treat we ran across this week. Someone might need to hold us.

Over at the website Sucre7, there's a new treat listed for sale every 7 days. The ideas behind this offering are simple, control your ingredients, use the freshest and most flavorful and never let things be mundane. Although their offerings are always awesome, this weeks concoction has been so successful it's been added to their full-time offerings list permanently.

So what is this amazing looking treat? Why a Bacon Moon Pie of course! They've used bacon from the local Farmer's Market in Woodland, CA and have mixed it into their shortbread cookie along with bacon fat and the cracklin! It's paired up with a Vermont maple syrup marshmallow and Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage Bourbon, surrounding a bacon fat and bacon cracklin caramel. The whole thing is then dipped in a dark chocolate and we'd be lying if we didn't say we drooled a little over the whole idea of this treats existence.

We usually feature recipes that can be made at home, but this product ($33 for 4 pies, including shipping) comes with the recipe for creation (which Sucre7 usually does). Although many of you might be able to recreate this recipe on your own using ingredients and artisan foods near you, we're guessing many will still be tempted to order one anyway... we are!
