We're accustomed to seeing dressers in the bedroom, and sometimes even in the living or dining room. Often antique, dressers are an attractive storage piece for non-clothing items, too, like blankets and table linens. So it shouldn't come as a surprise to see them popping up in kitchens! Whether used as an island, extra counter space, or just to store cookware, freestanding dressers can be an interesting visual element in a kitchen, as well as a practical storage solution.

Bacsac Bacsquare 04...

That's so funny - I have a HUGE kitchen and one side has a large dresser with a glass top for extra counter space and storage. Didn't know I was on-trend!
My parents' kitchen has a small dresser with two drawers on top, and the rest, i.e the bottom being a wine storage shelf (has those cubbyholes) and on top they have a massive fruitbowl. Always seemed normal to me and I never questioned additional furniture to the kitchen :D
I did this in my last apartment...it was totally necessary, there was only one drawer in the whole kitchen and it could only fit aluminum foil and plastic wrap!
I LOVE dressers in the kitchen - reminds me of British kitchens. I don't have one currently because my storage is adequate, but I do love the look.
Super stylish and inspirational ideas. I love the ecclectic and homey look even more than perfectly matched, shiny kitchens! It shows how with a little creativity, you cam make something practical out of a piece of furniture you may already have, but just hadn't thought of using outside of it's original purpose.
I'm totally in love with the stove in the first picture! Off set burners, what?? Does anyone know anything about the brand or how old it is?
The stove looks like a Wedgewood. Mine is circa 1943 and is a gem. Not with off-set burners like the picture but instead with a griddle in the middle (between the two sets of burners, just more fun to say 'griddle in the middle').
And here I thought I'd invented the idea of putting my grandfather's old desk (complete with secret hiding places) into my kitchen to add storage and be quirky. Seems quirky and homey is now in style.
I love sitting at the desk with my first cup of coffee and think before I enter my day
@chinatown, here's the post on Katherine and Conan's blog about the stove.
I love the painted red dresser. That would be a wonderful DIY project.
