Trader Joe's hasn't officially crossed the border into Canada just yet. But, there is Pirate Joe's, and it sounds like a pretty close second. At least if you live in Vancouver.

Started by Michael Hallatt, Pirate Joe's is an unaffiliated, unauthorized, yet from the sound of it, totally legal, reseller of TJ's most popular products.

Not surprisingly, Hallatt has faced opposition from U.S. retailers. In response to getting banned from various store locations, he simply ventured to stores farther south in Seattle, and even Los Angeles, and hired shoppers to source products. There has also been legal resistance, though nothing strong enough to shut down Canada's answer to cookie butter and chocolate-covered almonds.
