What do the food magazines have cooking in February? Here's a look at a couple of them.
Gourmet knocks it out of the park this month, with inspiration and recipes I actually want to try. They give milk chocolate its day in the spotlight. Jane Smiley writes a delightful tribute to her bright yellow Le Creuset pot. They throw a cooking party with recipes that encourage all your guests to help out, and then they light the candles for a romantic dinner for two.
My favorite parts were the photo spreads from Turkey and the northern Massachusetts coastline, full of wild and beautiful imagery and mouth-watering food.
Worth buying for these and Smiley's article, which is not online.
We already covered Saveur's January/February issue, their annual special edition of the top 100 things to look for in the new year. And yet that doesn't even begin to cover the good things available on their newly redesigned website right now. Try Madhur Jaffrey's look at the too-well-kept secret of Tamil Nadu cuisine and the envy-inspiring slideshow of a Brooklyn row house's kitchen renovation.
They also have illustrated instructions for roux, an article on prosciutto and parmigiano, and a new recipe directory.
