Food Lover's Travel Tip: Bring Bags!

Pin it button big

I'll never forget the time I bought some food souvenirs on a trip to Seattle, immediately popped them into the plastic zip-top bags I had brought with me, and the merchant chuckled and said, "You must be a visiting food blogger." How did he know? Do all food lovers and bloggers carry plastic bags when they travel? I'm not sure, but I certainly do.

Although I prefer to ditch the plastic bags in everyday life, I find them essential for travel. Wrapping edible souvenirs like spices, salts, syrups, jams, sweets, and anything else can help protect other luggage items from spills and odors. I speak from experience when I say this helps deter hotel room ant infestations, as well...

Why pack the plastic bags instead of buying them at your destination? Unless you know your destination well, it's simply more convenient and often cheaper. Whether you end up using the bags or not, they don't take up a lot of room in your luggage. Plus, it's better to spend every moment possible enjoying your travel and tasting the local delicacies!
