Last week First Lady Michelle Obama tweeted that she picked Napa cabbage from her garden, and was using it to make kimchi. She even shared the recipe! Her version calls for five Thai chili peppers per two heads of cabbage, so it's mighty spicy... and just how we like it! Get the recipe below:

I am very impressed that the first family eats kimchi and even makes their own.
awesome!!
Thanks for the recipe. Will definitely be trying out this version as I'm quite sure it will send dh over the moon. And kudos for writing the most amusing intro ever to appear on AT. I'm off to clean my monitor screen now & put the kettle back on...
This looks amazing. I love kimchi. But what is the liquid that is in the jars? Because the recipe calls for dry ingredients and only a tbsn of fish sauce. How do u get that liquid?
The salt draws out the liquids from the cabbage to make the kimchi juice.
Mmmmm delicious! Thanks for the recipe.
Hello,
so I finally made this and its been sitting in my fridge for the 3rd day now. I have not opened the jar yet but there is no liquid at all. I feel like I made a salad and put it in a jar and its starting to wilt. How does it pickle? What did I do wrong? I used half of a small head of reular cabbage. Could this be the problem?
