Linen is not cheap (unless you score a good find at the thrift store!) but it's worth the extra cost for its long-term durability. Did you know that linen sheets can last for over a hundred years? They just get softer and softer each time they're washed, and kitchen towels and aprons do too. Yes, they have some natural wrinkle, but we like that natural look.
Here are a few favorite aprons.
• 1 12oz Eco-Linen French Apron, $30 at Sartoria.
• 2 Citron Domestique Linen Cafe Apron, $45 at Amazon. Available in over a dozen colors and patterns!
• 3 Lotta Jansdotter Hostess Apron, $43.95 at Essentials.
• 4 Linen full apron, reversible blue and yellow pinstripe, $45 at Vital. Reversible to pinstripes!
• 5 No Ties Apron - Lemons, $45 at Inklore. A smock-like apron that buttons in the back. Lined with sunny yellow cotton.
• 6 Classical Cool Linen Apron, $26 at HS Gifts. Ruffles!
• 7 Thinking fish linen apron, $23 at Dindolina. Part of a series of printed aprons from Rome. The fish is saying, in Italian: “I'm not going to bite.”

• 9 Ruffled blue linen apron, $28.95 at Buy American.
• 10 Pure Linen Apron, $17.99 at Touch of Europe.

These are all so beautiful! I love the half apron with the fern motif. But I always heard that linen stains fairly easily. Is it really a good choice for an apron that will frequently have dirty hands wiped over it? Perhaps I've been mis-informed?
I love these! Especially the ruffle one!
Laurabellk, I always heard the oppsite! Regardless, I kind of feel that aprons are supposed to have stains, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. That, and a soak in oxy-clean does wonders, except on grease, which calls for dish soap.
I hear you on the durability thing but I just don't know if I could stomach spending that much money on an apron. I have 3 of them that I rotate and have either received as gifts or purchased at a deep discount at Williams Sonoma.
I bought the Domestique apron in black linen a few months ago. It's adorable, but the first time I washed it, the hem came undone. :( Buyer beware!
I really like that Touch of Europe apron. And I recently realized that I probably should have an apron, judging by the amount of food that seems to end up on my clothes. Hmm...
under $50?!!! i need. to learn. to SEW
Madinet, my thoughts exactly. $50 is ridiculous for an apron that will be stained from day one, and probably replaced within a year.
