We spread it onto sandwiches, blend it into smoothies, mix it into our morning oats, and bake it into cookies, but almond butter can be more than a supporting player. This nutty spread has what it takes to be the main star, and these satisfying three-ingredient snacks prove it.

3-Ingredient Almond Butter Snacks

The heart and soul of each one of these snacks is thick, gooey almond butter. It's always there for you when you need a mid-morning, afternoon, or late-night pick-me-up.

And with just three basic ingredients, these homemade snacks get right to the point. There's no messing around or beating around the bush. First, of course, there's almond butter. And the other two ingredients are an assortment of staples you probably have in your pantry or fridge right now.

As for what type of almond butter to use, that part is totally up to you. There's no right answer; use your favorite store-bought brand, or if you're feeling up to it, go ahead and make your own. It can be creamy or chunky, salted or unsalted, or plain or flavored.

These are more templates than actual recipes. They're a springboard designed to give you what you need to bring these snacks to life — but with plenty of leeway to add your own touch based on the flavors you enjoy.

Almond Butter + Banana + Granola

Serves 1

This is the kind of snack that knows no age. It's a hit with everyone, from kids to adults alike, as it combines your favorite granola with the best part of an almond butter-banana sandwich. It's sweet, crunchy, and downright comforting.

Peel your banana, and then slice in half lengthwise from top to bottom. Spread the cut sides of the banana with almond butter and sprinkle with granola.

Almond Butter + Coconut Milk + Cardamom

Serves 1

Get your afternoon boost in the form of a beverage. This lightly spiced, creamy shake is a real treat. Sometimes it's just the kind of thing our day needs.

It's as simple as a half can of coconut milk, 3 tablespoons of almond butter, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cardamom. Toss everything in your blender or use your stick blender to whip it all together. And if you want to take things up a notch, consider adding a few ice cubes and a spoonful of agave or honey.

Almond Butter + Cream Cheese + Cinnamon

Serves 1

Because dip is always a welcome snack! And this one is just subtly sweet, with a hint of warm cinnamon spice.

Combine equal amounts of almond butter and cream cheese, along with a sprinkle of cinnamon in a small bowl; beat with a hand mixer (or arm power if you're up for a workout) for a few minutes until fluffy. Then pick your favorite food for dipping! Go for tart green apples, sweet pears, crisp celery sticks, or crunchy graham crackers.

Almond Butter + Bread + Chocolate + Bonus Ingredient: Sea Salt

Serves 1

This one is so good, we had to toss in flaky sea salt as a bonus ingredient! Mostly because we're total suckers for sweet and salty snacks — and this one does not disappoint.

For those times you want to indulge a little, there's almond butter-chocolate-sea salt toast. Spread a thick layer of almond butter over your favorite kind of toast, top with some good-quality chopped chocolate, pop it under the broiler for a few seconds to get it nice and creamy, and then finish it off with a sprinkle of sea salt.

Happy snacking!
