Who would enjoy this book? Pie lovers
• Who wrote it: Allison Kave
• Who published it: Stewart, Tabori & Chang
• Number of recipes: 85
• Other highlights: I need almost zero prompting to eat pie. If it's fruity and its in a crust, I'm there. Allison Kave has all my favorites here — Strawberry-Rhubarb, Blueberry-Nectarine, and more delectable riffs on the classic apple pie than you can shake a fork at. But she's also opened my eyes to other pie-possibilities like Watermelon Cream, which sounds perfect for a late-summer barbecue, and a smoked almond pie made with smoked oolong tea leaves (!!!). I love all these season-spanning ideas.
Allison Kave is herself a prize-winning pie maker, and her instructions here inspire confidence and enthusiasm toward all things pie. She provides recipes for both vegan, though I only spotted one actual vegan pie recipe in the book. She also provides a recipe for making a gluten-free cookie crumb crust, which can be used for most any recipe in the book (from a quick scan, most pie fillings were gluten-free).
