While there are plenty of museums covering individual food topics, an interactive one covering a larger range of food topics has been absent from our museum landscape. Until now.
This October, the Museum of Food and Drink will open in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and the first event will focus on the science and industry of flavor — a relatively new concept in the world of food.
Why did it take so long to get a museum that covers a wide range of food and drink? Mostly because the founders wanted to avoid taking funding from major food companies so they wouldn't be beholden to them when creating exhibits. Especially since there is so much marketing involved in the food business.
We can't wait to visit the exhibit this fall.
