The New York City farmers' markets are still peeking out from under the blanket of winter. Ramps have arrived, but there's not much else in the way of exciting produce. There are, however, plenty of flowers to beautify your home and lots of herbs and baby lettuces to plant, if you're planning a garden...
There were tulips aplenty when we visited Union Square yesterday, along with hydrangeas, daffodils.
But if you've got gardening on the mind, there were some beautiful, tender pots of lettuce and herbs of every variety, ready to go in a small plot.
We don't have a place for a garden, so we merely window shopped. But we did pick up some ramps for dinner from Berried Treasure Farms, and the vendor tossed in a few free sunchokes (yea!).
Spring is (slowly) coming! What are you buying at the market?
