Released earlier this month, the 20 books of Penguin UK's Great Food series feature gorgeous covers designed by famed British book designer Coralie Bickford-Smith. Our favorite detail? Each cover is inspired by a ceramic pattern from the same period in which the book was originally released.
The series is an eclectic mix of titles, from Isabella Beeton's classic cookery book The Campaign for Domestic Happiness to Alice B. Toklas's memoir-turned-cookbook Murder in the Kitchen. There's even a collection of essays by one of our favorite food writers, the hilarious Calvin Trillin.
We love that the ceramic design theme of each cover seems to evoke a certain time and place, adding another dimension to these works of great food writing.
