Sure, it's pleasant enough eating outdoors now (even in the mornings and evenings of the warmest days so far). But what about as we get deeper into the summer heat? Or what about when the air grows colder before the next season? Let's talk ideas for extending the glorious outdoor eating season.
- We love a fire pit for use on cool autumn evenings.
- A misting fan may be a choice for those of us facing unbearable heat.
- A nice, big market umbrella provides shade on demand.
- Fleecy outdoor blankets like these from Mambe are waterproof and warm.
Do you, like us, do what you can to extend your outdoor eating season? How do you do it? What is generally your earliest and latest date for dining en plein air?

Can't wait to live somewhere that is actually still livable outside. In Fort Worth, you can get a headache from the heat after the sun goes down!
So my biggest tip for this: Live somewhere that isn't Texas. Ugh.
I live in Dallas and we spend evenings in our back yard. It's not too hot if there is shade.
The new house we're moving into next month has a giant, screened-in side porch with a fireplace (seriously) - three season "outdoor" dining here we come!!!
