Just when you thought pound cake couldn't be more decadent, you hear of buttering slices of it and throwing it on the grill. Yummm. Toasty and buttery outside, warm and dense inside. Top it off with some warm fruit or chocolate sauce and you're all set:
Pictured above is Food Network's Grilled Pound Cake "Brats", which pairs the cake with blackberries on top.

Pan-fried butternut squash cake! It's a great way to save almost-stale, somehow forgotten cake:

I've never done it on the grill but I love pound cakes toasted with a bit of butter in a cast iron skillet. This is a brilliant summer variation on that idea! Thanks!
Funny how this is just making the rounds....
I grew up in a small southern community. Our local restaurant served pound cake for dessert. When the pound cake got a little bit past its prime-the owner would lightly brown the pound cake in butter on both sides in a skillet, top it with a scoop of ice cream and some chocolate sauce. Holy COW!
broiled angel food cake is also delish, and a bit easier on the waistline :)
