- What makes your small kitchen so cool?
- I love my small kitchen because everything is within hand's reach and it's completely my style, even though we weren't allowed to make major changes.
- Describe a challenge you've overcome or a smart resource you've found for your kitchen.
- When we moved in, the kitchen was white, empty and it didn't look inviting. Since it's a rental apartment, we weren't allowed (nor could we afford) to remodel the cabinets, so we painted the walls surrounding the kitchen black (the wall behind the stove is even painted in chalkboard paint!) and saw to it that the kitchen appliances weren't only useful, but fulfilled a decorative function too.
Because we don't have much counter space, my boyfriend made me my own "rolling kitchen island" out of a small IKEA cabinet and four wheels. It holds all my cookbooks and breakfast supplies, and I think it looks great!
- What's your favorite meal to cook here?
- Lasagna! And all kinds of cookies and cakes of course. I love how the delicious smell fills up the whole apartment!

really cute kitchen except for the cat on the counter! gross. i am a proud lifelong multiple cat owner but cats on the table and cats on the counters is a big no-no in my opinion! as a person who loves to cook and loves to entertain i make a point to keep my cat off kitchen/food surfaces, but i am always appalled by folks who don't find this weird or think its cute.
anyway this place is quite inviting otherwise, and maximizes space so efficiently. kudos
If that's dinner on the table, don't invite me.
Personally, I shoo my cats off the table, but I'm not grossed out by eating on someone's clean-looking table where I know a cat has been. It's not like I'm eating directly off the table's surface.
also, those old jars for storage are neat.
Very nice!
Agree with the comments about kitties on the table....but that kitty is pretty darn cute, and I love the contrast between the dark walls and white cabinets in this kitchen.
hmmm, pets on food surfaces. not a fan, but as i'm not a pet owner i genuinely don't know if it is even possible to prevent a cat going where it fancies. however, one of these entries seems to have a dog on the table that must surely have been put there and has not evoked any comment whatsoever... go figure. now, back to the kitchen...
i like the black and the moving island is a great idea!
You get my vote because your cats are so cute. Mine like to lounge on the table like that, too.
Your kitchen (and cat!) are adorable!
Also, although my cat doesn't voluntarily go on tables/counters, she is one of the cleanest beings I know, and I really wouldn't find it gross (especially since I go over surfaces I'm cooking/eating on anyway)
Love your system with the jars! My cats are allowed on the table as well, unless we're eating there (and I wipe it clean beforehand).
I like the step stool to help the white kitty reach the higher shelves ;) (y'all know you can always wipe down a table or counter before you use it, yes?)
Really great job with limited options - kudos!
My kitties go everywhere too.
Cat on table always gets my vote! ;)
i wonder if the people who don't like cats on tables are the same who use so much purell that their immune system weakens. ;)
this place has black walls, white cabinets, open shelves, butcher block counters, mason jars, and cats. i can't NOT vote for this.
A cats place is not on the kitchen table!!!!!!! And I know how independent minded cats are and that they go where they please!
