The Upside Down strikes again. Approximately 10,000 cases of Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat waffles have been recalled from 25 states. In a statement made by Kellogg's on Monday, the company explained that the recall was due to a potential listeria outbreak.
This specific recall affects Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat waffles in 12.3-ounce boxes (10-count) with the UPC code 38000 40370. The waffles have a best-by date of November 21, 2017, and November 22, 2017. The following 25 states have been included in the recall: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
This recall arguably comes at an especially awful time, given the rise in nostalgic interest in Eggo Waffles due to Netflix's Stranger Things. In the show, the young heroine named Eleven becomes mildly obsessed with Eggo Waffles, going to great lengths to get them whenever she can. I think we should all just pretend that those 10,000 cases of Eggo Waffles have just fallen into the Upside Down and hope that Winona Ryder will eventually save the day.
