This is such a classic combo: Smoked salmon, cream cheese, dill. And it's classic for a reason! It's also very simple, and very easy, and a new favorite lunch.
I bought a small package of smoked salmon, and turned it into lunch this week along with some fresh bread, cream cheese, and dill from the garden. The nice thing about smoked salmon is a little goes a long way; it's so flavorful and filling. It's expensive, yes, but a small package was more than enough lunch for me and my husband when prepared this week.
It's so delicious, too! Creamy, cool cream cheese with that wallop of smoked, tender salmon on top! I cracked some black pepper over it all, and it was delicious. This is such an easy lunch, and packed in a small box, would carry well to the office, too.

Also, I'd recommend sprinkling the dill on the cream cheese before laying down the salmon. Sacrifices a little presentation for the functional benefit of not having dill fall off your sandwich.
I do this a lot for lunch, using whole wheat flatbread from Trader Joe's along with sprinkling some capers and a bit of red onion on top.
Me too! My coworkers in my office think I'm crazy. While they eat their McDonalds or PB&J sandwiches on Wonder bread I have my toasted seeded sour dough bread with cream cheese and smoked salmon (Trader Joes has very affordable smoked salmon as does Costco). I like to top mine with a veggie mixture of thinly sliced fennel, dill, capers, a little finely diced red onion and lemon juice. TO. DIE. FOR. And it feels like such a decadent lunch for bringing a lunch from home.
We have this for breakfast a lot...
with tons of cracked pepper and a squirt of lemon juice...heavenly.

I make this with very thinly sliced bread from the bakery.
I make it some times with thinly sliced cucumber, crème fraiche, shallots, capers and a squeeze of lemon. or just topped with shallots and capers. I know red onion is very traditional this is what my Jewish grandmother added but the shallot gives it a nice twist.
