On Monday, we looked at repurposing pasta sauce jars for storing all sorts of things around the house. Now, here's a look at the inverse: using glass jars for storing pasta:
We always just store pasta in the box it comes in from the store. Some of these examples had us worried about air-tightness (we're looking at you, apothecary jars) but they can't be any worse than the opened boxes we use!
How do you store dried pasta in your home?

Oh... I thought this was really common practice! I guess I'm just ahead of the curve :) The apothecary jars are really pretty though :) Maybe I'll have to upgrade from my Ikea clip top jars!
I don't store pasta, but I store my beans and grains in Mason jars.
I have a pic of it here: http://tastespace.wordpress.com/2011/09/09/skillet-toasted-corn-tomato-and-anasazi-bean-salad/
We use jars - not everything, but if a bag gets opened and we don't finish it, it goes in the jar. The nice tall spaghetti one is especially useful!
Ooooh yeah! I pity the fool that doesn't use mason jars. Tose apothecary jars are pretty but way too frou-frou for real pantries. Arrrgh!
This may sound boring, but I actually prefer storing my pasta in the boxes they came in. Pantry real estate is precious and square containers save about 30% space as compared to cylindrical containers.
Don't get me wrong, I find the above picture much more pleasing to look at than my cheap cardboard boxes and if I had the space, I would do just that. But I prefer to use jars for food that absolutely needs to be in a watertight container, like beans and such.
I started storing all of my dried goods -- pasta, grains, dry beans & legumes -- in glass after my first experience with mice, which can make quick work of any plastic bag or cardboard box. I have a nice collection of antique mason jars now. The only product I've not found the perfect jar for is long spaghetti/linguini/fetuccini.
I tend to keep pasta (and other foods) in the boxes they came in for the instructions. Some day I'll outgrow that culinary habit.
flour, beans, sugar, chocolate chips, all kept in jars. the rice isn't only because it comes in large plastic bottles; unused pasta is kept in the box.
