Dreamy Menu Inspiration: Kim's Sweet Make-Ahead Menu

Valentine's Day may be over, but we loved all the entries in our Dreamy Meal for Valentine's Day contest so much that we wanted to show you a few more entries.

Here's a sweet, romantic tribute from Kim to her favorite cooking partner - and it's a menu we really, really like. It can almost all be made ahead...

Kim's Sweet Make-Ahead Menu
Roasted Garlic Soup With Parmesan Cheese - All special occasion cooking should be easy but taste like you slaved away. With that in mind, start with garlic soup. Blow your mind good, and heavenly with a good pinot grigio. Make it a day ahead and all you have to do is heat it up.

">Goat Cheese Tart - Follow this with a green salad tossed with a balsamic vinagrette and parmesean cheese (a little repetition works well when designing rooms, menus, outfits, etc). Serve alongside this amazing goat cheese tart. Crust is easy, but it has a bad rap because it takes a few minutes -- but if you're too scared to do your own, buy a frozen pie crust and claim it as your own. Bonus, it can be made ahead. You can substitute onions for shallots, and I always throw in fresh herbs to suit my taste.

Poached Pears - It's hard to move on to the, ahem, romantic part of the evening if one is overly stuffed. So keep desert simple and light. I love poached pears. They can be done in red or white wine -- lately I'm liking white. Best of all, they can be made ahead. Do you see a pattern?
