Valentine's Day Dreamy Meal contest. Entry is quick and easy - just tell us your inspirational plans for a dreamy Valentine's meal. Here's Melissa (different from Mexico Melissa!) with a whimsical and classic romantic meal inspired by the gamine Amélie herself... Melissa R. says:
I am basing my meal on this lovely picture from Amélie. On the first Valentine's Day that I spent with the man who is now my husband, he treated me to a home-cooked meal complete with creme brulee made using ramekins and a torch that he bought for the occasion. I love the image of Amelie with her creme brulee, as she simultaneously captures the whimsy and the careful planning of romance. There is an underlying childlike spirit coupled with great attention to detail. I think it would be fun to work with the red and green color scheme of the film and translate it to a meal. A nice touch would be the songs of the Amelie soundtrack (which I happen to own!) in the background, as well as red & green decor throughout the kitchen (classic roses in a green vase would be perfect). Knowing my husband, no good dessert can be served without a cup of coffee, so we'd sip some with dessert, and then retire to the bedroom with a glass of port in each of our hands.Melissa's Amélie Whimsy Menu • Red Bell Pepper, Spinach, & Goat Cheese Salad with Oregano dressing - Starting things off... • Lamb Chops with Cherry Balsamic Sauce and Mint - The main dish, which would be served with a side of... • Roasted Beets and Sauteed Greens with Hazelnuts and Goat Cheese, and a glass of Bordeaux • Lemon Creme Brulee with Fresh Berries - Dessert of course. Good luck Melissa!
