Wouldn't it be wonderful to be sipping our morning coffee with this as our view? Yes. Yes, it would. We're dreaming of escapes big and small this month. Where do you wish you could escape for breakfast this morning? And what would you be eating?
No matter where we go on vacation, breakfast is often our favorite meal. Just waking up and starting to think about the day ahead. Enjoying whatever local foods are normally eaten for breakfast. It's always a such a nice leisurely meal with whoever we're with before we get carried away with the hustle and bustle of our travels.
One of these waterside cafes in Greece would do us just fine. We'd order a strong cup of coffee and maybe a small sweet pastry to fuel our day of exploring.
What about you?

Chez Sam at the docks, Essaouria Morocco.
Pike Place Market, Seattle...home of the original Starbucks and a whole host of other morning goodies.
Paris or Greece!
This morning I decided I wanted to have breakfast on the Key Bridge in Georgetown. So I biked over there and had a granola bar. Gorgeous view of the Potomac. So I guess what counts.
My second choice would be the countryside of Killarney, Ireland.
This little cafe on Island Hvar in Croatia. My husband and I ate breakfast and sipped coffee there every day while we waited for the little water taxi to take us the the perfect beaches on the small islands a little ways offshore. It was heaven..
I'd want to wake up somewhere with white beaches and clear water, 75 degrees, and sip on a tall iced coffee. I'd read a book and eat a muffin!

In a little cafe overlooking the seacoast of Visby, a small town that time forgot on the island of Gotland, an island between Sweden and Russia. Much of the island architecture is between 500-1500 years old.
Anywhere with a balcony view of ocean and mountains and a gentle breeze.
Having milk tea and masala dosas overlooking a mountian in Munnar, India.... There is no other view or spot on this earth that could compete for breakfast.

Sticky buns and iced coffee from the Flour bakery, eaten on a bench by the river in Boston, a selection of the finest pastries from a patisserie in Paris, taken to one of the parks... but so long as it's with the other half, some coffee from a flask, and some pastries bought from the local supermarket work just as well - parked up on the cliffs, or near the sands at one of the local seaside resorts (Cromer/Blakeney/Gt Yarmouth) - before all the tourists turn up!
wherever it is, it must be early! five-thirty, watching some cafés open and the others close, enjoying something delicious from a down-town food stand. perhaps in italy, perhaps in france or spain, but it must by the ocean.
On a terrace in Oia Greece- greek yogurt with figs, walnuts and honey.
Early morning, Sevilla, Spain, Tostada con tomate and a cafe con leche. Tostada con tomate is served at most cafes and bars for breakfast. Loaf of bread sliced down middle and toasted served. Drizzle olive oil on bread, spread grated tomatoes, generous dash of salt. It is perfect.
At my fathers house in Normandy, France. Breakfast would be sitting outside eating fresh eggs from his chickens, and a crusty baguette from the next village over. And of course, a cup of my dad's put-hair-on-your-chest strong coffee...
I would give anything to be back in Istanbul eating my continental breakfast on a rooftop balcony overlooking the Hippodrome...
Olymom pegged mine. Plus coffee, of course!
Anywhere that's not hot as Hades. Here in Raleigh, NC, the really brutal part of summer has begun and I just want to be anywhere else.
With baguettes and butter, of course!
I miss my old apartment in Paris :( The cafe across the street had the BEST croissant aux amandes (almond croissants) and cafe au lait! I'd sit there and people watch for hours...
Paris! Or my aunts balcony in Austria.
In New Orleans, either at Brennan's for one of their ridiculous omelets and bananas foster or having cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe du Monde (okay, this goes for any time of day, but still).
Not that I'd say no to breakfast in Paris again.
On a train travelling through Europe, with coffee and croissants, and a perfectly poached egg, watching the scenery go by.
This Villa in Tuscany we stayed at a few years ago, where we'd wake up to the smell of freshly baked bread wafting up to our room, accompanied by locally made butter and jam and yogurt! To die for!!
In Spetses, Greece (the island beside Hydra - the island in the photo).
I would escape back home, to our family's little townhouse in a lush area just outside of Toronto, surrounded by great maples and pines. I'd sit in the garden with my mom, drink earl grey tea, enjoy some vegan tofu benedict with latkes while the kids played in the yard and the birds played out their drama in the branches above us. Sigh.
