Q: Hoboken ice cream sodas were my favorite back in the fifties and sixties. My favorite place to have this was Hicks on 49th Street around the corner from Saks in New York City. Do you have a recipe? I would love to hear about it.

Editor: If I'm remembering correctly, Hobokens are made with fizzy water, pineapple syrup, and chocolate ice cream. You could make your own syrup by simmering equal parts sugar and water with some pineapple pieces, or you could use the syrup from the bottom of a can of canned pineapples. Start there and see what you get!
