Q: I have a problem with storing the blades for my Cuisinart DLC. The shredding and slicing blades come with the fixed rods that are difficult to store safely. Right now, I have been keeping them in the Styrofoam block they came in, but that is not very space-efficient.
Do you or the readers know of any other cases or easy DIY fixes? Thanks in advance!

We especially liked the suggestion of making homemade cardboard guards for the blades. Readers, any fresh tips?

why not take some knife or some hot wire to the styrofoam block until it is space-efficient?
It's not very high-tech, but I just keep mine in a large plastic baggie.
To clarify, I keep the standard chopping blade in the processor cup, and store all of the discs and connectors in a baggie.
we keep ours in a sandwich-size Tupperware clearly marked "BLADE". It's stackable and more durable than Styrofoam at least.
I bought the plastic storage rack that Cuisinart sells. I mounted it inside my cabinet. No worries about breaking the stems and it's easy to find the blade I'm looking for.
I keep mine in deep Ziplock containers w/ the snap-on lids. They stack well, so I can keep a few in each. Safe and easy to find and store!
All you need are a couple binder clips and your blades can stand on their own in neat lil' rows on a shelf. (View example)
FlyCasual--that's a great idea!
I have to say, I love the storage box mine came in--everything fits perfectly and it's easy to grab all at once. I'm typically against single-use kind of storage, but it's so efficient, it's hard to hate on. Here are a few more:

We keep the food processor on a shelf in the pantry, so I put a couple thin nails in the wall behind it and hang the blades on those. Works great!
We got the blade case from Cuisinart. It seemed silly to spend money on it, but we had a gift card leftover from our wedding and I realized with the blades being as sharp as they are, I wanted them in an enclosed container so I wouldn't accidentally cut myself. It has room for 3 disks and the thing that attaches the disk to the machine, the regular blade and the dough blade.
I don't have to many pieces, but, i store everything together. I put the bowl on the stand and put the sharp blade in place. I then attance the dough blade, two discs and the disc stand int he bowl and put on the top. It works so far so I am not going to change anything!
Not pretty, but we have a couple of Sterilite plastic drawers on a shelf. One for food processor stuff, one for mixer stuff.
I store the spare blades of my Cuisinart right next to it on an open shelf in a pretty bamboo basket. I also keep there some spare parts of the rotisserie oven. It is neat and very easy to reach.
I use a top shallow drawer and keep all 4 discs in a row (half-overlapping to fit in the space). I use the rest of the drawer for all the other food processor accessories. It works wonderfully for me!
