Q: I have a Kitchen Aid mixer. Do I need a food processor, or can I buy efficient, cost-effective attachments for the mixer that do the same thing? Such as slicing?

Editor: Take a look at this post on mixer attachments:
This said, to my knowledge there are no KitchenAid attachments that can do things like shred cheese or blend a smoothie. (Readers, correct me on this?) If space is an issue, look into an immersion blender — it can't slice cheese, but it can do almost any kind of blending task just as well (even better!) than a blender or a food processor.
Readers, what do you think? Is it necessary to buy a food processor?
