You probably know by now that the maker of those famous little iced circus animal cookies has closed down. Tragic! But you can still make those beloved childhood treats at home.

The news about Mother's bummed me out, too. This past weekend, I looked for the Circus cookies on the shelves, but they'd already sold out. Then I remembered seeing the orange and white Halloween special editions on an end cap, so I went looking for them again. Luckily, I found them on a special display case. I don't usually buy or even enjoy "shelf stable" cookies, but these have always been an exception.
I'm so sad about Mother's. I grew up on those cookies (iced oatmeal being a huge favorite.) My third grade class even took a field trip to the Oakland factory. The highlight of the trip was the huge bag of cookies we got to take home as a souvenir.
Yeah...I hope someone buys the rights to the recipes and starts making them again.
Yeah, I was pretty sad when I heard about Mother's. Even my Mom was sad! We all love the iced oatmeal ones and the circus animals, of course.
oh no! I didn't know! sad.... those were always a go-to snack compromise between me and my mom.
Keebler makes the same thing. I don't know if that's a recent development or what, but I saw them in a variety pack.
Oh, man. That is so depressing. Seriously depressing.
the company had troubles for some time. I first knew about two years ago - it had been sold to some conglomerate that was only having the most popular cookies - circus animals, iced oatmeal, striped shortbread, etc. - produced. My beloved Flaky Flix were gone! I searched stores and the internet for any to buy. Then in some kind of manufacturing miracle, they were being produced again! Vanilla and chocolate! I was about to buy more and found not only were they gone, but the company was closed! I feel very badly for the workers and also mourn my beloved fudge Flaky Flix, my favorite store-bought cookie (I usually am a home-made girl).
