Another DIY recipe for one of Starbucks' most popular holiday beverages, this is very easy to make and can be modified. Soy-based eggnog can be substituted for dairy eggnog and soy milk can replace milk in this recipe for a vegan version.
I don't even have an espresso maker - I just use a stovetop espresso maker like this one.
DIY Eggnog Latte
1/2 cup eggnog (or soy eggnog)
1/4 cup whole milk (or soy milk)
1/4 cup espresso
Ground nutmeg (optional)
Mix together the eggnog and milk and heat up, either on stovetop or microwave. Pour the espresso into a mug and top with the hot eggnog/milk mixture, and stir. Sprinkle with ground nutmeg if desired.

i tried to make my own eggnog latte, but as I heated the eggnog it appeared to curdle (as though there were bits of scrambled eggs in the drink.) Does a special type of eggnog have to be used for this to work? Was there something wrong with my eggnog?
How clever!! Can't wait to try this!
@eminthekitchen try mixing it with milk in the proportions listed above, heat slowly, and stir frequently.
You have to really make sure to stir frequently on medium to low heat, otherwise, you're just going to cook the eggs in the nog and it will be scrambled nog. At coffee shops, like Starbucks, they steam the beverage, which allows it to heat fast without cooking it. Unless you get it extra hot, which can sometimes cause it to cook a bit. If you do the soynog version, I wouldn't think you would have to cut it with more soy milk, since soynog is not real eggnog, unless you don't want the flavor as strong.
eminthekitchen: If you are making your own egg nog, I recommend making a cooked version; it'll make it easier to prevent curdling.
I know I am over a year late on this post but as the holiday season is coming back around I thought that I would add, to get the "starbucks" consistency use a 2:1 (eggnog:milk) ratio. Starbucks uses 2% milk for the eggnog latte unless otherwise requested.
For an 8oz or 12oz mug use 1 oz espresso; 16oz or 20oz mug use 2oz espresso.
