The Great British Baking Show is wrapping up season three tonight for the United States (it already aired on BBC One earlier this year). If you've been following along the last month or so, you know this season has been full of interesting characters and delicious, sugary creations.
The true star of this season, however, is the subtle addition of the new stand mixer in the series. Did you notice?
The last two seasons of The Great British Show featured KitchenAid stand mixers. We're big fans of this classic kitchen tool, but it can be quite an investment for home cook. In season three, however, the KitchenAid was replaced by the Kenwood kMix which is considerably cheaper — roughly $130 less. Why did this happen? And could the kMmix actually be better than the KitchenAid?
The Daily Mail put the kMix to the test and found surprising results. They pitted the kMix against the KitchenAid in various baking needs, and found that without a doubt that the kMix actually produced a better product than the KitchenAid.
Could this be the new stand mixer everyone becomes obsessed with? (The candy-colored hues don't hurt.) And have you tried the kMix in your own home? Your favorite cake recipe might need the upgrade.
