- What makes your small kitchen so cool?
- We just moved into our house a few months ago, and our little kitchen was stuck in the 1950s with old laminate cabinets and linoleum halfway up the wall. Since we couldn't afford to replace anything, we made it work for us! We replaced cabinet knobs, cleaned everything up, ripped down the linoleum, painted the walls and brought in vintage accessories to create a cute retro kitchen.
- Describe a challenge you've overcome or a smart resource you've found for your kitchen.
- The kitchen has a weird layout with a wall of wasted space. I have a lot of gadgets and appliances and there wasn't enough space on the counters for all of them. I brought in two inexpensive kitchen carts to create storage room and save valuable counter top space.
- What's your favorite meal to cook here?
- I love to cook, so it's really difficult to pick a favorite! I really love making delicious tofu and veggie curries though.

Wow, that's harsh, Kpies ...
It's not my style but then neither is my kitchen. Glad that it's something you can enjoy. My wife and I are in the same boat in regards to not having the money to redo much. Such are the joys of first owning a house, right?
I'm sure that big stove will come in handy with the extra oven section.
I love it! You kept it clean and simple! Way to work with what you've got...I for one applaud you. Refresh-Reuse. Unpretentious
I like it, too. I think you've used the space well and that blue color on the walls is great!
We have the same "EAT" sign in our kitchen.
Nice kitchen, Dianne! You worked with what you have, which I admire, and the result is clean and light and pleasant. You have my vote. :)
Love it!!
Clean bold lines with inviting touches of color. Lovely!
I've never seen an oven like that before, I'm intrigued! It's a bit like an Aga or Rayburn. What's in the different compartments behind the doors?
Your kitchen is lovely and I have to admit I'm kind of glad you couldn't afford to replace it :)
I love the cool tones and how big you've managed to make your tiny space look! Nice work! Congratulations Dianne! Definitely my favorite!
Love that you used what you had. You get my vote. A truly green kitchen.
i REALLY like that oven!
I think this kitchen is great! simple and functional..great colors that pop!
OMG! What's your bathroom say?
I love that you were able to transform this dated kitchen into one you are excited about without gutting everything. Your colors and accesories make all the difference. Great that you made functionality a priority - so essential in good design. Many kudos for finding an imaginative way to do a super kitchen makeover without breaking the bank.
