Design Friday: Napkin Frame

Frame Napkin, from kyouei design, makes a statement about eating. Cooking is not like other kinds of art; its product is ephemeral and transitory. In fact, many chefs, including Alice Waters, insist that their craft is just that - craft and not art. This little napkin seems to suggest, however, that the artifactual byproducts of eating - the splatters and smears of a hearty dinner - are of value enough to frame for posterity.

Or maybe it is just a sly poke of fun at those who like to think their cooking means something more than a good and satisfying meal - those who would believe themselves artistes of the kitchen? We're undecided - what do you think? Another product pic below the jump...
