As the weather warms and we start thinking about picnics in the park
and camping, this Fridgy prototype from designboom's kitchen is the heart of the home
competition, is an interesting idea.
The designer says that his design is meant to break the "refrigeratorness" of the common refrigerator, to give more character to that big old box. See how it unfolds and zips up, below...
More from the designer, Yonatan Sadowsky of Israel.
Fridgy's soft insulating cover is a double layer of non-absorbent fabric filled with polyester fibers. The cover has a door with a zipper. Its cooling mechanism uses thermo-electric technology based on the Peltier Effect.
We find this rather ugly yet oddly cuddly. What do you think? How does a zip-up refrigerator sound to you?
