I'm not against a little mood lighting, but I usually never have anywhere practical to store candle holders or containers! So I'm a fan of this festive look that puts kitchen staples to good use.
When tucked into regular white soup or noodle bowls, floral foam and dried moss suddenly becomes little grassy meadows on your dining room table. The floral foam holds the candle while the moss dresses it up.
For extra whimsy you could add small figurines, like people, deer or other woodland creatures. (Check toy stores or model train stores for the best selection or find them online.) Don't forget about all the free things found in nature, like pine cones, dried flowers or small twigs!

This is a great idea !!! Using some bowls or any size bowls to create a center piece for your table. You can fill the center with pine cones or potpourri or fruit etc. Making a center piece for all seasons !!!
I have some very nice dessert bowels that have been used....Some way to curtail calories too...just use the container ..ha, ha, Think this really will work? Probabley not. I like the idea to put little figurines on the moss. Oh, so many ideas to repurpose items we already have. It's a way I can give to charitable org. this time of year.
tea cups would be cute also
