In light of the news earlier today about a new show sending up old episodes of Martha Stewart's TV shows, we thought we should feature just one more recipe from Martha in today's Daily Scoop.
Blue cheese ice cream, served with onion rings and steak!
This one is a little much for us, but we're genuinely curious too. Savory ice creams have been gaining in popularity; they're downright trendy these days. Have you ever tried making one, or have you ever eaten one in a restaurant?
It seems like there are many possibilities with savory ice creams, and this recipe look rather easy. We are big fans of a sweet goat cheese ice cream at Jeni's here in Columbus, and it wouldn't take much to tweak it savory and to serve it with a warm salad or meat.

At Aquavit in NYC I once had a disgusting dessert of blue cheese and lemon grass ice cream.
It was dessert, and sweet, but a new Seattle pub called Spur has fois ice cream on the dessert menu. Why?
I have never tasted a savory ice cream, but have thought about making a savory coconut-milk "ice cream" to go with spicy Indian food.
Back in the spring I had a salad that had a scoop of blue cheese ice cream atop it at a restaurant here in Nashville called Flight. Thought it sounded odd, but I gave it a try. The salad had a bit of honey drizzled on it, too. The combination was fantastic, and the blue cheese ice cream flavor was fairly mild, not harsh - I highly recommend it.
Blue cheese and roast beef are an awesome combo, and I'm usually quite open-minded about ice cream, but I'll pass on this one.
