Q: I recently received a lovely bottle of lavender-infused balsamic vinegar from a friend. She says she loves it in salad dressing, but I'm wondering how else I can use it.
Any ideas for me?

Editor: Ann, how lovely! We can definitely see this drizzled over strawberries, come spring, or made into a honey syrup and dripped over panna cotta or ice cream. A couple recipes:

• Recipe: Honey Lavender Panna Cotta
Readers, what would you suggest for Ann and her lavender vinegar?

I recently got a bottle of the same, as well as one of honey ginger while balsamic. I've used it to make buttermilk in baking (awesome in chocolate cake) and simple salad dressings. Love these other ideas!
Oops, white balsamic, not while!
Definitely on strawberries! Like in this appetizer recipe: http://www.lanascooking.com/2010/04/29/strawberry-balsamic-appetizer/
Reduce it and use it as a glaze on chicken.
I also received a Fustini's Olive Oil and Balsamic set for Christmas. They also have recipe ideas on their website, so be sure to check that out:

i make goat cheese stuffed dates (sometimes wrapped in bacon!) and make a balsamic reduction to put on top. it's amazing but also really easy. just reduce the vinegar about 50% slowly over lowish heat.
It's almost painful to think about it given the *storm of the century* headed my way tomorrow, but I think it would be lovely reduced and drizzled over a caprese come summer time...
Come, summer time!
I like to make a pear and goat cheese pizza that I drizzle with honey and a balsamic reduction. Lavender infused balsamic would really put it over the top! Nom, nom, nom...what a lovely friend you have!
Reduce and drizzle over bruscetta with Trader Joe's honeyed goat cheese.
or dip shortbread in it.
Dip good quality dark chocolate in it. It's delicious. No kidding.
Pour a bit over vanilla ice cream.
yum! thanks for the good ideas. I haven't really done a balsamic reduction ever, but it sounds like that is a very versatile way to go!
