Last week, French mustard company Maille opened its first store in the United States on the Upper West Side of New York City. One of the best features of the store? There's a mustard sommelier who can help you choose the right condiment for your meal or for a gift. So what does it take to become a mustard expert?
Grub Street spoke with Pierette Huttner, who runs the shop. Huttner says she joined the company earlier this year and worked in each of the stores around the world. She lead tastings and learned how to distinguish between all the different flavors.
We'll be heading to the Maille store next time we make homemade soft pretzels.
