Miso soup is a cold-weather favorite, and generally its simplicity stands on its own. This Miso Soup With Sweet Potato Dumplings has a lot more going on than traditional miso soup, but we think it looks heavenly. The sweet potato dumplings are spiced with red and black pepper and shallots and floated in a broth with nourishing vegetables - bok choy, bean sprouts and edamame.

Red-and-Pink-Stripe...

I've been craving miso soup in the worst way and my town has no Japanese restaurants. Provided I can find some miso, I am making this soup, pronto!
This looks awesome---I was looking at the comments on epicurious and had to laugh though. Someone suggested it would be better with shrimp dumplings instead of sweet potato perhaps not realizing that the creating chef is from green zebra which is an all vegetarian restaurant. I suppose this may not be so well known outside of Chicago but it still made me laugh.
I actually saw this recipe in Self magazine last month. I've been wanting to make it since it looks so tasty and healthy. Maybe this weekend, I'll finally get around to it...
Looks so wonderful! I love clear, veggie-full soups in the winter. Nice foil to all of the heavy usual cold weather fare.
