Traveling this season? Make it a little more pleasurable with this cocktail bitters traveler's set from The Bitter Truth. Each mini bottle is only 3 ounces, so they're TSA-approved. Just add a few drops to sparkling water or a little gin, and say hello to happy flight.
Each tin contains five bitters: Celery ("very complex and exotic"), Old Time Aromatic ("classically bitter and tangy"), Orange (with "spicy flavors of cardamom, caraway, and nutmeg"), Creole ("evokes the flavors of Creole cuisine in New Oreans"), and Jerry Thomas ("very fruity and very bitter").
Of course, this set would also make a fine addition to your home bar, or a great hostess or holiday gift for the cocktail-lover in your life.

Bacsac Bacsquare 04...

Just when I was running out of gift ideas for the frequent travelers in my life. Thanks!
Just started thinking about making my own bitters -- love the idea of blends based on cuisines, like the Creole bitters. For these types of blends, would you suggest making a separate infusion for each ingredient, then blending them, or just mixing all the ingredients and infusing them in a single batch?
I need this! The Old Fashion is my drink, and I have been thinking of trying other cocktails with different bitters. Must have.
I bought this set last month, and have been enjoying them immensely. A little goes a long way, and they add a nice extra dimension to cocktails.
@Claire: I've just gotten into making my own bitters and I've come to the conclusion that making separate infusions is the best way to go. You can mix up different styles and, if you want to try something unique, you don't have to wait 2-3 weeks to find out if your idea was brilliant or awful. Jamie Boudreau brought up the point on his blog that you can also save a batch since you can add other flavors to mellow out anything that's too overpowering.
Do you know where to buy them in the U.S. (without shipping from the UK)? I remember wanting to buy these a few years ago, but couldn't find them to purchase. They'd make great gifts!
