Conscientious Cook: City Harvest's Canned Food Drive

Pin it button big

A good old fashioned canned food drive is a great opportunity to be a conscientious cook. City Harvest is running a canned food drive through January 6th to benefit community food programs throughout New York City. Don't just clean out your cupboards of the old candied yams and Spam; how about some organic soups, beans or baby food?

Get your office-mates and neighbors involved. If you collect 100lbs or more, they will pick it up. If you collect less than 100 pounds or you can't organize a food drive, drop off food donations at your local firehouse. To find the firehouse closest to you, go to http://www.nyc.gov/maps, enter your address, and check the "Fire" checkbox.

For more information or to schedule a pick-up, call Jill Kogan (917.351.8765) or email her at jkogan@cityharvest.org.
