Moving into a 130-year-old building would be enough to scare most people, but instead, Chris and Hannah were extremely excited. They were starting a new chapter in their lives — and what better place to start that chapter than in a small, quiet town that held an amazing diamond in the rough?
Their diamond is located in Woonsocket, Rhode Island (20 minutes north of Providence). Luckily, major renovations had already been completed by the previous designer and architect owners — but there was still plenty Chris and Hannah had to take care of.
They had to transform the space into their own without distracting from the work the previous owners had put into it. Our favorite part: the kitchen, obviously! We love kitchens that are able to marry the old and the new.
Putting a vintage stove in a remodeled kitchen is a huge trend right now, and we're hoping it never ends. Antique stoves were made with such a different frame of mind and the aesthetics are so unlike anything on the market today. Also, we're used to seeing white vintage stoves, but here we're really enjoying the black. The black stove works well with the slate farmhouse style sink. We love huge sinks — not only for their functionality, but also for their looks.
It's interesting that the kitchen has some fairly large appliances, but they're spread out and placed so smartly that the placement allows for a lot of cooking space. The stovetop and oven are located in the island, while the sink and refrigerator are located along the wall. This layout allows for maximum counter and walking space.
What do you think of this reclaimed kitchen?
