Did you watch the presidential inauguration yesterday? While reading all the follow-up on it today, we came across something really cool: the official inaugural luncheon menu is available online, as are all the recipes! And it was definitely a feast. (Lobster AND bison? Oh yes.)
The three-course lunch included Steamed Lobster with New England Clam Chowder Sauce, followed by Hickory Grilled Bison with Red Potato Horseradish Cake and Wild Huckleberry Reduction. And for dessert? A Hudson Valley Apple Pie with Sour Cream Ice Cream, Aged Cheese and Honey (seen in the photo above). And don't forget the wine! That's also listed on the official 57th presidential inauguration website.

But did you see that the lunch was over 3000!!! calories if you ate all of it. So much for a healthy diet.
I'm vegan, so these recipes aren't calling my name, but I wouldn't worry about the calorie count, as another poster did. How many times does one go to his own presidential inauguration? Surely we can let the President and family enjoy it to the fullest! Congrats to the Obamas. I hope they had a wonderful time.
Nice! I think I need a big bowl of clam chowder now. It would be so fun to go to a fancy dinner with important people like this!
would love to taste sour cream ice cream! that dessert looks fab.
It sounds delicious. I'm especially intrigued by the red potato horseradish cake.
The dessert looks great! I've printed the recipes and will make it this weekend--the ice cream, the pie and the sauce. Doesn't look too hard.
