Most starter homes don't come with modern and renovated kitchens; so you really have to rely on your DIY skills. That's exactly what Chancie and Dan did with their starter kitchen and the result is fabulous. They have a little taste of cabin living in their LA home.
They sandblasted the paint off of the wood ceilings and that contributes a lot to the cabin-like essence of the house. The kitchen cabinets also mimic the wood grain and rustic elements of the ceiling in an updated modern way.
The tile backsplash wall is perfect for the space because it's just the right amount of feminine colors and textures to tone down the wood. There's no way I could overlook that amazing and gigantic farmhouse sink and contemporary faucet. The two of them make such a big difference in the kitchen and add a little country to the cabin!
