[droop] n. Fleshy fruit in which the one or more seeds are surrounded by a hard, protective layer.
Drupe fruit are also sometimes known as stone fruit because they include fruits like cherries, plums, and peaches - all with hard, stony pits encasing the seeds within. Other, more surprising, fruits are also drupes - coconuts are dry drupes, with the soft flesh becoming dried out and fibrous. Other popular drupes include coffee, mangos, almonds, and olives.
Some berries, like blackberries and raspberries, are made up of many small drupelets, each with a tiny seed inside.
