St. Patrick's Day arrives just when the seasons are at their most ambivalent. Will it rain? Will it snow? Will the sun suddenly appear, bringing gardens and green delicious things back to life? The simple country fare on the traditional St. Patrick's Day table reflects this tipping point between winter and spring. Here are some of our favorite delicious ways to celebrate this Irish-American holiday.
Want to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with something green, but you're not too keen on food coloring in milk, or bright green beer? Here's something to put you in the mood, made with an unexpected and extremely un-Irish ingredient: Avocados! More
With a shot of Irish whisky in your coffee it's no wonder St. Patrick's Day had the lads and ladies hollerin' "Top o' the mornin'!" Like any recipe there are numerous views of how this sip should be served. It's only suitable we've got our favorite take too. More
How many Irish ingredients can you mix into a recipe in the spirit of Saint Patrick's day without seeming totally absurd? I may have crossed the line with this recipe for Cheddar and Chive Guinness Bread, but the good news is, it's not green and you don't need anything particularly Irish to make it work.
Beer bread is one of the simplest quick breads to make. If you wanted to be really rogue you could dump every single ingredient into the loaf pan itself, mix, bake and eat. For this take on beer bread, I add sharp cheddar cheese (if you're looking for an Irish brand, I'm a huge fan of Kerrygold's Dubliner), creamy Irish butter, green chives and a bottle of Guinness. It's practically more Irish than Saint Patrick's Day itself. More
Q: In honor of St. Patrick's Day: Is it possible to make an Irish breakfast for a crowd in a normal kitchen? I have about 30 people coming for my daughter's birthday, and I'd love to do a fry up with eggs, sausage, tomato, mushrooms, and some baked beans, but I just can't envision doing it for such a large group!

Q: My mum, being the good Irishwoman that she is, gave me a corned beef not long ago. It's sitting in my freezer waiting to be cooked, but my boyfriend hates cabbage and potatoes, so I'm really at a loss for what to do with it!
Any good side suggestions?

Today, March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day, and I am in Ireland visiting family. While Ireland is not known as a wine producing country I thought it fitting to post on Ireland’s contribution to the world of fine wine. While some of you may be familiar with Ireland’s famed ‘Wild Geese’ I wonder how many of you have ever heard of Ireland’s ‘Wine Geese’? More
Red flannel hash was an invention of the first New England colonists, but it certainly has roots in Old World cookery. It's essentially corned beef hash, minus the corned beef and plus a few beets. If you're looking for something a little different to serve up this St. Patrick's Day, look no further! More
Q: St. Patty's Day is right around the corner, and my husband is not a fan of corned beef and cabbage.
I was wondering if there is some other easy, traditional Irish dish I could make for dinner which would still make me feel festive!

Crisp and juicy, a mug of this lager from Rogue Ales is an excellent way to toast St. Patrick's Day, no matter what hour of the day you start celebrating! More
