There seem to be two camps when it comes to electric kettles: those who can't live without them and those who don't really see the point. The question is: do you need one in your kitchen? More
Are you into really, really shiny appliances? Love the chrome-married-with-wood-grain trend? Then this "Silver Art" line from Krups may be just what you're looking for. More
Even if the brand name Bialetti doesn't ring a bell, you probably recognize the little aluminum stovetop coffee maker shown above. Included in the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection, the 'Moka Express' was originally designed in 1930 by Alfonso Bialetti and it remains in production today. The Bialetti company proudly states, "You will find this little stovetop coffee maker in 90 percent of Italian homes." More
Jamie Oliver is always full of surprises, but this one really takes the cake. Or the cheese, as it were. How do you make a crispy, warm, and bubbly cheese sandwich with nothing but a two-slot toaster? Jamie shows us how. More
Croutons are our salad kryptonite. We find that we look forward to even the most lackluster salad if we know croutons are involved. Happily for us, making a quick single-serving batch of crunchy, garlicky croutons requires only a toaster and three minutes of our time. More
The majority of us will eat lunch away from home today, most likely reheating our leftover burritos and bowls of soup in one of these: a microwave. Ever wonder how the heck these things work? More

Then, in a fit of spring cleaning, we decided we'd had enough. Every small appliance in our kitchen – 13 in all – was subjected to scrutiny with the goal of getting rid of anything we didn't really "need." More
I have a handsome wood pepper mill from Peugeot (like Elizabeth's) that I leave out on the table and use from time to time in the kitchen. But it is one of their smaller models, and I find that I am constantly refilling it. I use large quantities of pepper when cooking (especially when I was testing all those recipes for my my casserole book!) and in those cases I go straight for my old Krups coffee grinder, which now I use exclusively for spices and pepper.
