Last week we asked our readers what they cook and serve for a vegetarian dinner party. What are the very best main dishes for vegetarian dinner parties? The best center-of-the-table showstoppers? Here are a bunch of great vegetarian dinner party dishes, straight from our readers. More
What do you do when you lose your cooking mojo? Your inspiration drains away and you look longingly at your takeout menus? You are eating Ritz crackers out of the box and peanut butter and celery — cooking anything more complicated than this sounds impossible. We asked our readers what they do when they completely lose their cooking mojo — how do you regain your inspiration? Here's what they had to say. More
A certain person in my household has a rather hard time remembering his lunch in the morning. He will leave it on the entryway table while picking up his keys, and then I'll get a rather sad call an hour later, asking me to return it to the refrigerator. I rib him about this, but I'd love to just solve the problem, for his sake! So I turned to The Kitchn's Twitter friends (do you follow us?) and asked them: What is the very best way to remember one's lovingly home-packed lunch in the morning? Here's what they had to say! Earlier this week we asked our readers for some better intelligence on make-ahead breakfasts. We read the comments (all 37 of them!) and rounded up more ideas from Facebook and Twitter. Here are all the ideas we heard, sorted into categories, and with some links to recipes. Take a look, and add more ideas if you've got 'em! More
Do you think of escargot as kid-friendly food? No? Well, I didn't either until I received this email from reader Courtney. She has been encouraging her five-year-old to be adventurous, and look what turned out to be a hit! The best part of the story, too, is that she didn't have to buy a new tool or pan to cook these unusual little treats. She repurposed something she already had. Read on for the full story! More
Remember this reader question about using her gorgeous romanesco broccoli? Well, another reader sent us one more creative way to use that fractal-icious broccoli: Make it into a Christmas tree! More
We recently asked our readers for their worst kitchen disaster story. In the middle of all those tears and laughter, Kitchn reader JaxLBC, left us a great holiday tip, one that could be a huge help to those who are preparing a holiday feast for the first time, either in a new space or all together — just do a trial run! The gingerbread cutters would make a great gift for someone else, but you don't need a special cutter to make them for yourself at home. Just use a regular gingerbread man cookie cutter and the fluted edge of a tart pan to create the "bites" wherever you want. I do it all the time.
Same goes for the cookies designed to hook onto the rim of a mug or glass. Just take a sharp knife and cut your own notch into your favorite cutouts.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! We hope that you had a wonderful holiday weekend, full of warmth, good company, and delicious food. Thank you to all the readers who sent us photos of their Thanksgiving tables and meals. Here's one more, updated peek into our readers' dining rooms — there are tables from all over the world. It seems as if you all were all well set up for feasting! More
Remember those Toastabags we showed you a few weeks ago? These reusable bags let you make quick, no-mess grilled cheese sandwiches in the toaster. Well, reader Jess wondered if she could find an even easier, cheaper alternative. Here's what she came up with! More
