Do you remember recipe cards, those preprinted cards that were often sold in sets or by subscription? They would have a photo of the recipe on the front and the recipe was printed on the back. For some reason, I've always associated them with meals made from condensed cream soups and canned green beans. But the people at Middlewest have kicked that notion straight out of my head with their beautiful new food magazine, which consists of 10 double-sided recipe cards and nary a canned green bean in sight.
With Daphne Oz, it's about the whole picture. Not just cooking healthy weeknight meals, but also about how to throw a good party. Not just making sure your kitchen is well-stocked, but also making it a beautiful, welcoming place to be. In other words, she's a lady after our own Kitchn hearts and we are happily besotted with her new book Relish. More
Who has two thumbs and loves avocaodos? This girl! And also, I'm guessing, a great many of you. But we've got nothing on Gaby Dalkin. Here is a gal who loves her avocados something fierce. We're talking breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a great many nibbles in between — her new cookbook has 80 different ways to work our favorite buttery green fruit into every meal of the day.
MoreOur four-legged friends may be happy to eat whatever food falls on the floor, but we know they deserve something a little better! Have you ever made homemade dog biscuits or pet treats? You may be perfectly happy baking them in the oven, but if not, you could always try this Pet Treat Maker from Holstein. It looks like a panini press or sandwich maker, but it presses out dog biscuits instead. (And yes, they're bone- and- paw-shaped!)

Q: I have been given tons of beef jerky. As much as we like to it, there's only so much beef jerky one can eat. Does anyone have good ideas on how I could cook with it? Or other ideas for using it?

MoreDon't be scared off by the word "bitter" here. This ESB is a seductive, honey-sweet brew with just enough of a bitter edge to keep things interesting. It's a classic British ale and for a good reason: it's just that good.
MoreSpring is in the air, finally! In celebration, I went looking for verdant and vibrant kitchen things in all shades of green. Here's to the end of dark, grey days and the beginning of a beautiful season — outside and in your kitchen!

Whether you follow the paleo diet, you're curious about it, or, heck, you just want delicious recipes no matter what diet they happen to fit into, there are plenty of fantastic dishes here for you dive into. Michelle Tam's recipes on her blog Nom Nom Paleo are often Asian-influenced, often California-inspired, and always popping with flavor. The ones she includes in her e-cookbook are no exception.
Q: I'm making pozole this weekend and want to use dried corn (not canned). I'm confused because many sites describe treating the corn with lye (nixtamalization), while other sites imply that some dried corn has already been treated. I purchased the dry corn shown here: maiz morado para pozole (purple corn for pozole).
