Located in the neighborhood called The Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri, Monica's home has some Art Deco era design influences, including narrow hallways and round windows. Rather than fight the inherent structure, Monica heightened it by incorporating a little Hollywood glamour into her decorations, including in the design of the kitchen.
Blythe's charming bungalow-style West Hollywood home is a bit "Paris-apartment-meets-beach-house," as she describes it. The small and oddly shaped rooms can be a bit of a challenge, but they're full of Blythe's souvenirs and artwork picked up on her travels, while the kitchen—painted in the perfect shade of pale yellow—opens right out to the patio, which makes for very easy entertaining! Luke Mortimer's little home just outside Castlemaine in Victoria, Australia, is a lovely country cottage, and his penchant for vintage, eclectic pieces means the home feels simultaneously modern and a bit rustic, which can be seen in the design of the kitchen.

Kelly's downtown Los Angeles apartment is exactly what you'd imagine when you hear the words "artist loft." It's enormous, and there's color and artwork everywhere. Kelly has a soft spot for mid-century furnishings, and the kitchen, with its bright orange and mustard yellow color scheme and vintage accessories, puts that style on full display. More
When Elizabeth and David bought their 1948 Los Angeles home, it had never been remodeled. So, they set to work gutting the house, which included opening up the kitchen to the living room and adding two sets of 6' wide French doors, which open to the back yard. They now say "the kitchen really is the heart of this home - it's bright, happy and perfect for entertaining." Bonus: the O'Keefe and Merritt stove—clearly a focal point— was a gift from their realtor. More
Aiden, a writer, and Charlie, a potter and gallery owner, renovated their small 1920s Rhode Island farmhouse shortly after getting married, and were clearly inspired by the natural surroundings. (The house sits on quiet road, and you can see cows and sheep grazing in a nearby field.) The light-filled kitchen is rustic and earthy, and mixes both old and new elements: the kitchen table and overhead mobile light fixture were inherited (old), while the hutch was handcrafted from salvaged wood (new and old). Angelique's Maryland home was built over a century ago, and while she loves the vintage charm, the home also has its challenges. The kitchen is apparently ready to "fall down," but you wouldn't know it from the facelift she gave it! More
When Marjorie's Hollywood kitchen appeared on my computer screen, I didn't know where my eye should move first. The copper pans? The ornate chandelier? The jaw-dropping 1945 O'Keefe and Merritt six burner, double oven, double broiler beauty? (Whew! That's a mouthful!) It's a visual feast, clearly inspired by Marjorie's extensive travels to France, England, Italy, and Greece. More
Julie, a French filmmaker, lives with her three-year-old daughter Ellie in a rental apartment high above the quiet courtyard of a Haussmann building on the Canal Saint Martin. Almost everything in the apartment was either inherited from family or acquired at a flea market, which makes the space feel warm and homey. The kitchen, small though it may be, is especially inviting despite its simplicity. And it also features Julie's proudest DIY: the butcher block counter! More
