When Kyle remodeled her San Francisco kitchen, she knew she wanted a wide open floor plan for entertaining. The result is her chic cottage kitchen, all white and gleaming, with calacatta marble countertops (a total splurge), a Viking range, and a large pantry expertly hidden behind a sliding door wall. MoreAimee and Rene's Brooklyn home has a lot of charm. Rene is a chef, so we imagine the home kitchen must see a lot of action. And who wouldn't want to spend time in such a space? Rene actually built the kitchen cabinets himself, and the other details — the mint green walls, the black and white checkerboard floor tiles — make the whole thing feel sweet, cozy, and a little vintage.
As a child, Daniela spent summers at her grandparent's country cottage outside of Prague. Now she fills her home with sentimental objects and collections passed down to through the generations. One of those collections — her grandmother's bundt pans — is on display in her Newport, Rhode Island kitchen: "Looking at the bundt pans that my grandma used," she tells Apartment Therapy, "brings back that smell of fresh-baked bundt cake and my grandfather’s aftershave; such distinct smells just flood in."
MoreIt's not surprising to learn that Eunice loves the beach. You can see its influence all over her apartment — the colors are light and relaxing, an abundance of neutrals that still feel bright and energized, like an early morning walk by the water. Her kitchen is as unfussy and serene as the rest of the home. A dark backsplash creates drama, but the white cabinets and the butcher block island keep it all feeling crisp and airy.
MoreEsma's Hollywood Hills home has a distinct, design-ey Mid-Century vibe going on, particularly in the kitchen. The neat part about her kitchen, though, is that instead of ripping out the 1950s cabinets and going totally modern, she worked with an interior design friend to rebuild the original 50s cabinets and find the cool matching stone for the countertop.
Jackie and Sam's DC home is a mix-and-match of different styles that somehow all work together! From "curious kitchen accoutrements" to pig knick knacks, the result is an elegant home full of color, texture, gourmandise and art. The kitchen is small, but cozy, with a lovely shimmery green backsplash. And the dining room? Covered in toile wallpaper! See more photos below:
MoreRalph and Julie live in a spacious apartment in Berlin’s Kreuzberg neighborhood. It's a dream space (handed down to them from a family friend) that retains many of the original period details you'd expect in an Altbau Berlin apartment. The standout detail, though, is the bright, glossy green floor in the kitchen — a last-minute DIY project that completely makes the whole space! So cool.
More"We are inspired by objects that are both functional and beautiful, that tell a story through their materiality, where they came from or the artists who made them," say Brad and Julie about their style in this Apartment Therapy House Tour. Their kitchen encompasses that, too, from the utilitarian stainless steel counters to the sleek backsplash and minimal clutter. (Just the essentials are out!) Top it off with one wall that's all windows, and you've got a clean, modern kitchen that works perfectly for this family of three (soon to be four!). See more photos below:
MoreSarah and Fred's Berkeley kitchen is full of conversation pieces, from their large collection of plants to the wonderful white Wedgewood stove. The kitchen is spacious and airy, with plenty of room to cook, mix drinks (check out that bar car!) and eat around the table. See more photos below:
